At first, my mind went straight to the worst possibilities. It looked strange, dense, and rubbery, almost like something that should never be found inside food. The sight was enough to make me lose my appetite instantly.

After searching and comparing similar cases, the answer was less dramatic than I feared. It was most likely cartilage, a piece of connective tissue from the pig that can sometimes remain during processing. Unpleasant, yes — but not usually dangerous.
