According to the study, men often prefer women who are shorter than they are. Researchers suggest this may be linked to qualities people sometimes associate with shorter height, such as youthfulness or approachability.
Women, on average, were found to prefer men who are taller. The study says taller height is often connected in people’s minds with qualities like strength, protection, or social status, especially in long-term relationship preferences.
At the same time, the study emphasizes that these preferences are not universal. Context matters, and personal choices are shaped by culture, personality, experience, and individual differences, so height is only one factor among many.
